Shocking Blue was a Dutch rock band from Den Haag, best known for their 1969 global hit “Venus.” Formed as an all-male quartet, they cut a 1968 self-titled album on Polydor. After the arrival of singer Mariska Veres, they made seven albums between 1969 and 1974 on Pink Elephant and scored Continental hits with “Send Me a Postcard,” “Mighty Joe,” “Never Marry a Railroad Man,” “Hello Darkness,” “Blossom Lady,” “Inkpot,” and “Out of Sight, Out of Mind.”
