Ravi Arimelli: A Pioneering Indian-American Computer Scientist
Early Life and EducationRavi Arimelli, an Indian-American computer scientist and inventor, was born in Andhra Pradesh, India.
His family immigrated to the United States in 1969, and he spent his childhood in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Arimelli earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Louisiana State University in 1985.
Career at IBM
After graduating, Arimelli joined IBM's research center in Austin in 1985.
In 2001, he was named an IBM Fellow, an honor given to less than 1% of IBM employees.
Contributions to IBM's Key Projects
RISC Processor for IBM PC:Arimelli was part of the team that developed the first RISC processor for the IBM PC.
